India.

The zero-visa-risk compounder. No immigration variable at all — the 40% weight you put on country laws goes to a perfect 10. IIM-ABC salaries (₹35 LPA average) now beat what most international grads net abroad after taxes and living costs. And ISI MSQE has arguably the best ROI of any masters program on the planet: it pays you.

An IIM/ISB seat never closes the global door — MBB India transfers, GCC leadership roles, or a US MBA at 27 with a stronger file than today's.

ROI math — IIM-B base case

Cost stack

  • Fees: ₹26L (loan at ~8.5%; interest deductible u/s 80E)
  • Opportunity cost: 2 years of current salary — the real cost most people forget (~₹20–24L gross)
  • Total economic cost: ≈ ₹48L

Return

  • Entry: avg ₹35 LPA, consulting/banking clusters ₹32–45L; your finance research + SEBI cert targets IB/markets roles at the top of that band
  • Payback: ~1.4 years including opportunity cost; <1 year on fees alone
  • ISI MSQE alternative: negative cost, ₹23L mean — infinite ROI, and the strongest quant signal you can buy in India
  • FMS alternative: ₹2.43L fees against ₹32.3 LPA average — the single best fee-to-salary ratio of any MBA in the world. Same CAT, one more application; there is no reason not to add it

Risks & watchouts

05

Working there

You know this one — but calibrate it against the alternatives honestly. Post-MBA India means 55–70 hour weeks in consulting/banking, hierarchy that softens as you rise, and career velocity nowhere else on this list can match: P&L ownership at 27, leadership roles by early 30s, in an economy still compounding at 6–7%. Networks compound too — an IIM/FMS batch is a lifelong asset in a way European cohorts rarely are. The trade is intensity (limited leave actually taken, weekend pings normalized) and lower absolute USD wealth. But zero visa anxiety plus family proximity plus PPP-adjusted comfort is a package the other five countries quietly envy.
